The city most known for the happiest place on earth, Disney World is dealing with such tragedy in just 5 days. First a singer was killed by someone in a meet and greet line. But that headline was quickly pushed to the wayside with what is said to be the largest mass shooting in US history. Then on top of that, what seems to be a pure accident, a toddler was taken by a gator at one of the Disney resorts. All are tragic, and if you think otherwise I believe you to be wrong in your thoughts.
First, the singer was taken at such and early age. Not much has been said about this murder but it appears to be done by some random person. It has yet to be determined if they knew each other.
The second, the mass murder appears to be perpetrated by some deranged lunatic. He appears to be jilted due to his inability to make it on the police force, then also have issues with beating his wife (sound just a little familiar??? George Zimmerman esq.). He also has said to have made comments against Jewish people and pledged alegence to ISL. My belief is that he’s deranged, has insecurity issues and just acted out against a community that probably accepted him but he hadn’t come to grips with his own sexuality. I’m not a psychologist or therapist, it’s just a thought.
Although many enjoyed an alternative life style than my choice, it doesn’t mean that they somehow deserved their untimely death. Three individuals shared my same employer, two in the Orlando office and one in the Tampa office.
I have read comments by people that those who died somehow deserved it, as their lifestyle was that of the demon/devil. One presidential candidate went so far as to say ‘I told you so’ linking the killer with radical Islam. Let’s not jump to conclusions regarding a link to radical Islam unless you make the link that the majority of those killed by the ‘radical Islamists’ are actually MUSLIMS. That’s right, radical Islamists kill more Muslims than non-Muslims. While we hear people calling for a ban on all Muslims because of a few radical Muslims know the truth, more Muslims are dying than non-Muslims.
Just a week ago people were celebrating the life of a well known Sufi Muslim Mohammed Ali. Most people know him as a peace loving individual. His desire for peace got him in much trouble over the years. That’s right, Islam, when followed is a peaceful religion. If it wasn’t, we’d all be in trouble as the Muslim population is almost 25 percent of the world’s population if I’m not mistaken. Just don’t be so quick to lump every Muslim as radical cause their not. For those who know a peaceful Muslim you should be the first to contradict others when you hear them spreading falsehood.
Every religion has individuals who use the religion to their benefit. I look at the Westboro Baptist Church. They preach against the LGBT community, veterans and many other things that I can’t even understand let alone explain. Point is every religion has some less than stellar followers.
I’ll be the first to acknowledge the Catholic Church hasn’t always been an accepting bunch. There were the crusades, the religious cleansing in Spain that forced peaceful relationships between Muslims, Catholics and Jews to be dissolved. You see it was the Catholics that forced mass conversion when they took over, from the Moors. Unde Moorish rule, the amours built churches and synagogues. We also know the history of the Protestant separation of the Catholic Church.
Bottom line, how can anyone deserve such death? One victim is said to be a mother who was just dancing with her gay son; that’s how much she loved and accepted him. She had survived cancer twice only to be cowardly killed by someone. Nobody deserves that.
Obviously it is early in the investigation and not everything is known nor will it ever be, but let’s all agree there is no place in this world for anyone who takes the life of others. 49 people was too many, one person Christina was too many.
Then the third tragedy in Orlando this week hits home because a toddler was taken by a gator when the family was just trying to have a vacation. This couple spent I’m sure thousands of dollars to have a nice vacation that turned into an absolute nightmare. It’s something they will never forget. A pure accident.
They did nothing wrong but be at the wrong place at the wrong time. Yet people are blaming them. Yes maybe they should not have let their child be so close to a lake, but people from Nebraska or most of the other 50 states tha do not have an abundance of gators would not have known the true dangers. It was dusk, it’s mating season, the waters are full due to tropical storm, and the canals provide easy movement for gators. That’s it. All add up to an accident.
For those who take to blame the parents, do you drive a car? You do realize you are more likely to be in a fatal accident with your child than bitten by a gator right? But you still do it? Why would you take such risks?
I’m just saying place blame where blame is due, not on the victims or people who have absolutely no connection. Provide comfort and compassion to any individual. Human beings deserve compassion not shame or blame. Certainly the killer of Christina and the murder at Pulse deserve blame for what they did not those choosing a different lifestyle. Just as the parents from Nebraska do not deserve blame either.
These three events affect us all. How we cope with them will be part of our legacy. Let’s learn from them all and move forward. Maybe it’s gun regulation, background check, education and taking personal responsibility for making the world a better place. Each of us has a right, an obligation to future generations to show how we handle our struggles.
I wish I could meet the parents of the toddler, Christina, and all those affected by these events. Just to say I’m sorry and I will do my best to make sure it doesn’t happen again. I want to write new history. I want to be the start of a new positive world that everyone takes responsibility for making this a better world.
From Dr. King……
‘darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that. Hate multiplies hate, violence multiplies violence, and toughness multiplies toughness in a descending spiral of destruction…. The chain reaction of evil –hate begetting hate, wars producing wars– must be broken’
