Memorial Day is a federally recognized holiday that always occurs on the last Monday in May. It is a day for honoring individuals who died while serving the United States of American; making the ultimate sacrifice. It should not be confused with Veterans Day which is a holiday for all service men and women.
Traditionally, flags or wreaths are placed on the graves of the service members. It is also the day that the President places a wreath at the tomb of the unknown soldier.
For all the families that lost a son, daughter, father, mother, or loved one, my heart goes out to you on this special day.
