At a time when most people believe the minimum wage should be increased Purrto Rico is considering reducing wages to increase employment. If you read my blog just the other day you will know many people live below the poverty line in this world and only a very small percentage are wealthy.
I know it’s important to get people employed, just not sure this is the way to do it. A little over a year ago my company was making changes and increased the pay of the lowest earners, some saw an increase of 30%. Many states are looking to increase the minimum wage as well. It’s hard to know if increasing wages helps the economy through spending or hurts small businesses because they are not able to afford to employ people.
