I catch a lot of flack being ‘from the country’ even though most in Nebraska would consider me a ‘city girl’. True I grew up in a town of 1,111 people, but that certainly isn’t small by Nebraska standards and certainly not in the country.
Let me just share some facts: Memorial Stadium, home to my beloved football team, becomes the Third Largest city in Nebraska on game day Saturday holding around 90k. Omaha has around 400k and Lincoln, the state capital, about 250k. Additionally Memorial Stadium has the longest consecutive sell out record in NCAA history. Yes, we’re a proud group when I comes to our CornHuskers.
Being proud continues with this picture that I post. Employers often say they are only as good as their employees, but here Crete Carriers, a Nebraska trucking company, puts it out there so everyone can see. Makes me proud to be from the area of Crete Carriers, my home, Nebraska. I love seeing these truckers on the road and I always give them a wave. Usually they give me a thumbs up after they see my Husker stickers and car plate.
